There are important news regarding TikTok, one of the social platforms that has seen the most important growth since last year. In the last few hours the Italian Data Protection Authority has requested new measures to the social network.
The Italian Guarantor has in fact requested further measures from TikTok regarding the use of the social network by children under the age of 13 , after the social network was forced to implement a control in February on the age of registered users. The new measures will ensure that all accounts registered by users under the age of 13 are closed within 48 hours .
Among the accounts that will be closed there will be those that result associated with users under 13, but also those that will be reported as associated with users under 13, after verification final by TikTok. The Guarantor has in fact recommended to TikTok to implement more complex tools for verifying the age of users, also based on artificial intelligence but respectful of the privacy of users themselves.
Speaking of numbers, since last February there have been 12 million requests for age confirmation for Italian users. Of these at least 500,000 have been removed because they are associated with children under the age of 13.
