Farewell to the single broadband network: the government would like to abandon the project

Bloomberg reports that the current government has abandoned the project on the single broadband network led by TIM.

The previous government led by Giuseppe Conte had, among the various projects on which to invest the Recovery Fund , in mind a project regarding a single broadband network , starring TIM.

Now according to reports from Bloomberg , the current government led by Mario Draghi has abandoned the idea . The choice is based on the desire not to generate a monopoly for the sector of broadband networks, obviously in favor of TIM. To confirm this, the document sent by the government to the European Commission to obtain the Recovery Fund explicitly speaks of broadband networks in the plural .

The old project provided for the amalgamation of the line management of TIM and the networks of Open Fiber , which is controlled by the Italian State, in a single company, controlled by TIM. At the moment there are no official confirmations on the abandonment of the project. We will come back to update you as soon as we have more news.
