The Mobile B2c Strategy Observatory of the School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano has just published an interesting annual report, relating to 2020, about the habits of Italian users on the internet , going into more detail on how they approach network and surf in it and especially with which types of devices do it.

The most relevant consideration that emerged refers to the types of devices used to be online: Italians are increasingly attached to the smartphone , which represents the means used to visit websites and online apps for 77% of cases. In total, Italians on the internet through mobile devices are 35 million , equal to 87% of the connected population, in increase of almost 30% compared to the previous year.

Clearly in all this the pandemic has played a fundamental role, favoring the time spent online by users, who however, they preferred the smartphone to the PC. In this context, the mobile advertising market benefited: revenues grew by 9% compared to the previous year, reaching a turnover of 1.9 billion euros.

It is also interesting to see how SMS are still one of the preferred communication routes for users. The numbers of SMS exchanged grew by about 3% compared to 2019, although it was found that many companies opened support channels and customer assistance on WhatsApp to facilitate communications, especially during the period of increased travel restrictions.
