Xiaomi officially leaves the US Blacklist

Xiaomi leaves the Blacklist of companies that the US government considers connected with the Chinese army. Here is the company's statement.

Xiaomi (the “Company”) is pleased to announce that on May 25, 2021, at 4:09 pm (Eastern Standard Time), the United States District Court for the District of Columbia has issued a definitive order to cancel the designation of the Company by the US Department of Defense as a “Communist Chinese Military Company” (CCMC). By canceling the designation, the court formally lifted all restrictions on the ability of US persons to purchase or hold stock in the company.

The Company is grateful for the trust and support of its global users, partners, employees and shareholders. It reaffirms that it is an open, transparent, publicly traded and independently managed company. The Company will continue to provide reliable consumer electronics products and services to users, and relentlessly build incredible products at fair prices to enable everyone in the world to enjoy a better life through innovative technology. “

Excellent news therefore, not only for Xiaomi but also for its customers and for all those who intend to invest in the company.

The inclusion in the US blacklist dates back to last January; on that occasion the company had strongly defended itself, claiming that it was not owned, controlled or in any way affiliated with the Chinese army: a position reaffirmed two days ago by the District of Columbia Court.
