Google Workspce adapts to the “smart working from Coronavirus” and is enhanced with several new features

The impact of the coronavirus on the world of work has been incalculable, but perhaps in hindsight it will remain one thing most of all: the drive towards smartworking . With the situation of uncertainty that continues, and now that companies are convinced that not only a different approach to work – but also that productivity is not affected (indeed) – they are increasingly turning to the search for adequate tools to support activities in a different way than in the past.

Even Google with its Workspace (formerly G-Suite) has realized this and is enriching its offer with new tools and options . First of all, the Google Assistant features are finally coming out of the beta channel and will soon be used by all mobile device users (they remain in beta on smart displays and speakers).

Google Calendar

One of the main focuses was the management and sharing of time at a distance. Calendar will allow you to report to colleagues if you are available for meetings or not, it will be possible to set specific times in which appear unavailable / out of the office, any meetings overlapping will be highlighted to the user by the program, you can specify whether you are working from home or on site and finally there will be new events that will help limit notifications to decrease distractions. All the activities carried out will then be collected in a daily summary (not shared with superiors!) To allow you to understand time management.

Google Meet

Meetings via Meet will be enhanced with chats, surveys, Q&A accessible from both desktop and mobile device, the automatic subtitles will be integrated to allow better understanding while the events in streaming can be broadcast simultaneously on several domains of the same organization. You can use the smartphone screen as a second monitor for a more flexible video chat experience also thanks to the grid display, the implementation of splitscreen and picture-in-picture to be able to attend meetings without ever losing sight of Gmail.

Google Workspace Frontline and Workspace Essentials

Google has announced the arrival of Workspace Frontline , a new offer designed specifically for those who are on the “front line” in contact with the customer and need a direct line with the other operational departments. There are communication and collaboration apps, advanced security tools and business-grade support. Workspace Essentials instead will be launched as a collection of the main tools such as Chat, Jamboard and Calendar.

Finally, a new access management will arrive to allow Workspace users to access data in a safe and secure way, preserving the privacy of their data as well as that of customers.
