On Tuesday, September 14, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro at an event streamed and organized at Apple Park, the company's recently built campus in Cupertino, California (United States). In addition to smartphones, Apple also unveiled the new version of its Apple Watch and a couple of new iPads (the low-cost entry-level model and the new iPad mini).
Tuesday is the most important event of the year for Apple, in which the company presents the new version of its best known and most profitable product: the iPhone. It is also the event on which all the expectations of users and observers are concentrated, although this year, as widely predicted by the advances circulated in recent weeks, almost all the products presented are mostly minor version updates, such as the 'iPhone 12 from last year, which had already had a good sales success.
iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini
At first glance, the new iPhone 13 and 13 mini are practically indistinguishable from the iPhone 12 and 12 mini presented last year: the only aesthetic differences are the fact that the so-called “notch”, that is the dark notch located at the top of the screen and which contains the front camera and the sensors for facial recognition, is smaller (by about 20 percent) and that the arrangement of the two rear cameras has changed: before they were one above the other, now they are slightly offset, diagonally. There are also new colors compared to the previous model.
From the point of view of features, there are some more substantial innovations. The screens of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, respectively 6.1 and 5.4 inches, according to Apple are 28 percent brighter outdoors than the previous version but, contrary to the expectations of some experts, do not enjoy. of ProMotion technology, which makes viewing smoother by increasing the screen refresh rate (this technology has it, however, the iPhone Pro, back to it).
The new iPhones are also equipped with the latest processor produced by Apple, which is called A15 Bionic. Contrary to what it did in previous years, Apple did not compare the performance of the new processor with that of the previous generation (A14 Bionic), but limited itself to saying that the A15 Bionic is up to 50 percent faster than the competition in the ability to calculation and up to 30 percent faster in graphics.
Apple's processors, also thanks to the integration between hardware and software, are still unanimously considered the best on the market, and every year they show themselves in tests as considerably more powerful than those of the competition.
Two novelties that will please customers concern the battery, whose duration according to Apple has improved compared to the previous model (up to two and a half hours longer for the iPhone 13 and up to an hour and a half longer for the iPhone 13 mini) and memory: the cheapest model of the iPhone 13 no longer starts from 64 gigabytes of memory (considered for years to be a bit small even for common needs) but from 128 gigs.
Like every year, Apple has insisted a lot on the new camera performance of its iPhones, which are always two: one with a wide-angle lens, which will be able to capture 47 percent more light and will have a new stabilization system to avoid photos. moves, and one with an “ultra wide angle” lens. Apple has also introduced a new feature called “Cinema mode”, which allows you to record movies that have blurred backgrounds similar to those of a film, and which automatically recognize the faces of those who are in the picture.
Pricing and availability
The new iPhone 13 and 13 mini will be available starting September 24th. The prices of the iPhone 13 start at 939 euros, while those of the iPhone 13 mini from 839 euros.
iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max
Also the new Pro and Pro Max models of the iPhone 13 (with 6.1 and 6.7 inch screens respectively ) are aesthetically almost indistinguishable from the old ones, except for the smaller “notch” and some new colors.
Among the most important differences in terms of features are the screen, which uses ProMotion technology and has a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz, which makes animations and videos smoother, an improvement in battery life (one hour and half more for iPhone 13 Pro and two and a half hours more for iPhone 13 Pro Max) and the new A15 Bionic processor, which in the version installed on the iPhone Pro is a more powerful thread even than that installed on “normal” iPhones.
The cameras have also improved. Apple has particularly focused on the ultra wide-angle one, which should be brighter and have better autofocus. The wide-angle camera also has a better aperture, which allows it to capture more light. New photography modes have also been added, such as macro photography.

Apple Watch Series 7
The main novelty of the new Apple Watch 7 concerns the screen, which is considerably wider than the previous version and now has very narrow edges . The Apple Watch 7 screen is also brighter than the previous version and, according to Apple, more robust and impact resistant. It's also slightly larger: Apple Watch 7 is now sold in 41 and 45mm diagonal versions, up from 40 and 44mm on previous models.
WatchOS 8, the new version of the Apple Watch operating system, was presented, with some improvements in the interface, new functions for fitness (among other things, it automatically detects when the user is cycling) and some special features , such as for example that of opening the car with the clock, in the cars that will allow it.

iPad and iPad mini
The new iPad base model, often appreciated for its low cost, has received a small update: it has the A13 Bionic processor inside. (which is now two years old, but quietly lives up to most users' needs) and has internal memory that starts at 64 gigabytes, rather than 32 like the previous model.
The product presented on Tuesday that underwent the most changes is iPad mini, the smaller version of the iPad, which has not been updated for a few years now and which now has a larger screen with thin bezels, the powerful A15 Bionic processor and the USB port. -C for charging and data transfer via cable.
