Yahoo Answers, the question and answer service of the Yahoo web portal, will close permanently on May 4th, when the site and its contents will no longer be accessible. Two weeks earlier, from April 20, users will no longer be able to ask new questions or answer existing ones, but only consult content prior to that date. By June 30, users will be able to ask to download all their content produced from the day of registration on the platform, which otherwise will be deleted.
Yahoo Answers has been around since 2005 and is one of the longest running question and answer systems in the history of the internet and probably the best known. Over the years, its popularity has declined, as has the quality and reliability of its main service, that is, the exchange of information. In a communication on the closure sent to some very active users over the years, Yahoo wrote that it wants to focus better on products that do better service to users and that fulfill “Yahoo's promise to provide quality and reliable content.”
