On the Apple website in many countries, including Italy, it will not be possible to buy more than two iPhones of the same model for each order. It hadn't happened since 2007, when Apple put its first iPhone on sale: the decision was made to prevent people from hoarding them and reselling them on the black market. According to Reuters, even in this case the reason for the decision would be the same.
Since March 14, Apple has closed all its physical stores outside China, to contain the coronavirus infection (SARS-CoV-2). In this period it is experiencing a decline in sales, due to the closure of stores and even before the difficulty of finding all the components to make its products. In particular, many factories of Foxconn, the largest producer of electrical and electronic components, had temporarily suspended production in China. Now production seems to be back to normal but requests for iPhones and other Apple products have dropped due to the spread of the infection around the world.
