Attorneys General of Texas and New York will investigate Google and Facebook for antitrust violations

A Wall Street Journal article revealed that Texas and New York state attorneys general will launch two separate investigations against Google and Facebook, accusing the two companies of violating competition rules. The New York Attorney General confirmed the news.

The Google investigation will be opened by Texas Attorney General, Republican Ken Paxton, and will be backed by attorneys general from dozens of other states, according to the Wall Street Journal. The investigation into Facebook, on the other hand, will be conducted by the New York prosecutor, the Democrat Letitia James, and also in this case the attorneys general of other states will join. Facebook declined to comment on the news, while Google said it would work with investigators.

At the end of July, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) also announced the launch of an antitrust investigation against large US technology companies, including Facebook, Google and Amazon, with the aim of verifying whether the companies are restricting competition in the technology sector, with possible violations related to their dominant position on the market.
