The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced the launch of a large antitrust investigation against large US technology companies, such as Facebook, Google and Amazon. The investigation will aim to verify whether the companies are limiting competition in the technology sector, with possible violations of the laws related to their dominant position on the market. The initiative is distinct from other verifications that the DOJ has already initiated a few months ago against Google and Apple. The DOJ will conduct a general investigation focusing on specific sectors such as search engines, social networks and the sale of online products: it will therefore not be a test aimed at specific companies, at least in the first phase. The president of the United States, Donald Trump, had in the past made several allusions about the need to verify the behavior and strategies of the technology sector.
