The Russian government has ordered Tinder to give it access to user data

On May 31, the Russian government ordered the company that controls the dating app Tinder to share its users' data and the messages they exchange – including audio and video – with government authorities and secret services, as it had already done. with four other dating apps and many other online services. So far 175 services have already agreed to share information with the secret services to continue working in Russia; among the services that have been refused is the Telegram encrypted messaging app, which is why it has been banned in Russia even if it is still used. In the list of services required to provide data to the government, there are no WhatsApp and Messenger, Facebook's messaging app.

It is unclear whether the Russian government's requests to Tinder refer only to data from Russian users or to all users of the app. Tinder said it hasn't shared any data with Russian authorities for now, but hasn't said whether it will in the future or not.
