Wing, the division of Alphabet that deals with drone testing, has announced that starting from the summer it will activate an experimental service for deliveries with drones in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The trial will be carried out in the Vuosaari neighborhood, in the eastern part of the city, and residents will be able to order from a supermarket and restaurant.
Wing estimates that each delivery can be made in about 10 minutes from the time of the order. The company chose Helsinki because it offers a relatively calm and controlled environment in which to carry out the first experimental flights. The city also has an ambitious plan to eliminate cars by 2025, replacing them with a more complex and functional system of public transport. Delivery drones could therefore be a good solution for home transport of goods.
Helsinki on kiinnostava ja toimiva testialusta tulevaisuuden ratkaisuille. Tänään Vuosaaressa vast night mass Euroopan ensimmäistä drone-kuljetettua ateriaa!
