Huawei has remade Europe in China

In Dongguan, a city in the Chinese province of Guangdong, there are entire pieces of European cities faithfully reproduced, which stand out among the more traditional architecture of the buildings around them. This imitation of Europe is one of the most recently built campuses of Huawei, a large Chinese private technology company that produces smartphones and telecommunications equipment, sold around the world. The Ox Horn campus covers an area of about 9 square kilometers, on which copies of buildings and architecture of some European cities such as Paris and Bruges have been built. The Huawei headquarters is divided into a dozen small “cities”, where about 25 thousand employees work. A system of trams and other means of transport connects the various sectors of the campus, reminiscent of a large theme park.

Huawei has development and manufacturing centers in a dozen countries outside of China, with a strong presence in Europe. In recent months, it has become the second largest manufacturer of smartphones sold after Samsung, surpassing Apple. The company is also active in the production of repeaters and other equipment for building cellular networks, but is accused by the United States of providing secondary access to the Chinese government, to allow its espionage operations in the West. The circumstance has never been concretely proven and Huawei has always rejected the accusations, saying that it collaborates with dozens of mobile operators around the world, its customers for the construction of new plants, starting with the new generation 5G ones.
