Spotify has reached 100 million subscribers to the premium service worldwide. In the first quarter of 2019, the company, which is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, said it had reached a total of 217 million users worldwide, 10 million more than in 2018. These numbers are considered very good, and that in recent years they have grown by 30 percent from time to time.

The company's main competitor is Apple Music, the service introduced in 2015 by Apple that currently has 50 million paying users worldwide. Unlike Spotify, which offers a free version of its service with ads, Apple Music is only available for a fee.

Despite the good results, Spotify is still at a loss: between January and March, costs exceeded revenues by approximately 142 million dollars (a figure slightly lower than that recorded in the same period of 2018).
