In the first quarter of 2019, Amazon made a profit of $ 3.56 billion, its best-ever result: in the first quarter of 2018, profits were equal to $ 1.6 billion. The company generated revenues of $ 59.7 billion, up 17 percent from the same period last year. From the next quarter, however, expenses will increase: Amazon has decided to invest 800 million dollars to make standard free deliveries in one day instead of two, for subscribers to the Amazon Prime service. However, Amazon has remained very cautious in its forecast for the next quarter, with an estimated $ 1.6 billion in earnings, well below analysts' forecasts of $ 4.2 billion. The company is working on a new system for same-day deliveries in the United States, which could allow it to boost growth, even if it will cost it several hundreds of millions of dollars of investment to make it happen.
