The European Data Protection Supervisor is investigating whether the services offered by Microsoft comply with the GDPR

The European Data Protection Supervisor has opened an investigation to determine whether the services provided by Microsoft to European institutions comply with the new parameters established with the GDPR, the General Data Protection Regulation, which entered into force on May 25, 2018. The investigations are started after the Dutch government had written a very critical report last November regarding data collection done through some Microsoft Office ProPlus services, such as Word and Outlook. “Any European institution that uses the Microsoft services reported in this report risks having to face the same problems highlighted by the national authorities,” confirmed the European Supervisor.
