The United States has asked phone operators in some allied countries not to use components from the Chinese company Huawei, the WSJ said

The Wall Street Journal, one of the most important and reliable newspapers in the world, says the US government has asked the telephone operators of some allied countries – including Italy, Germany and Japan – to stop using components produced by the Chinese company Huawei. The US authorities would be worried about the future risks regarding possible cyber attacks and spying operations carried out by China through the components of Huawei, which is the second company in the world in the production of smartphones behind Samsung.

The request from the United States refers to the telecommunications components produced by Huawei, a field in which it is the world leader due to low prices and good quality. US concerns are mainly addressed to countries where there are American military bases: the most confidential military communications are transmitted with autonomous satellites, but a lot of information passes through the commercial networks of the various countries, where Huawei components are used for example in repeaters. According to the Wall Street Journal, however, the US strategy also fits into the broader ongoing trade war between the Trump administration and the Chinese government.
