Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen has died

Paul Allen, the founder of Microsoft with Bill Gates and philanthropist, died on Monday October 15 from complications from a lymph node tumor. He was 65. Allen said he had a recurrence of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma a couple of weeks ago, saying he was confident about the outcome of the new treatments he would undergo. Together with Gates, in 1975 Allen participated in the founding of Microsoft, a company that would have a huge impact in information technology and the spread of computers in the homes of billions of people.

He left the company in 1983 after his first diagnosis of cancer, which he managed to keep under control with treatment. He became a successful investor through his Vulcan company which started in 1986. Allen is estimated to have donated more than $ 2 billion in total in charitable, research and education activities. In 2010 he pledged to donate most of his assets to charity after his death.
