Instagram will no longer send notifications when taking screenshots of a story

Instagram has given up on the feature that sent a notification to a user when someone took a screenshot of their story. The company announced that it was working on this system last February, saying it had started a first series of tests with a small number of users, to then extend it to everyone in the future. Users were shown a warning in which they remembered that from the next screenshot the authors of the stories would receive a notification, to notify them of the collection of a permanent image of content designed to exist for a maximum of 24 hours and then disappear.

Instagram's decision had attracted a lot of criticism from users, who often use screenshots to share the contents of a story or create new ones from someone else's story. A similar feature has long been available on Snapchat, the application from which Instagram has often drawn inspiration to develop its new options. Based on the results of the tests carried out in recent months, the managers of Instagram came to the conclusion that notifications on the screenshots were not necessary and abandoned the project.
