Spotify, the most popular music streaming platform in the world, has sent an email to an unspecified number of its users who used the Premium service illegally, without paying, to warn them that it will suspend or close their account if they do not quit.
Spotify has a free version, which provides lower listening quality and advertisements between songs, and a paid version, called Premium, which costs 9.99 euros per month. There are also discounts for students, who pay € 4.99 per month, and for those who subscribe to a Family account: € 14.99 per month for six accounts. However, there are some illegal apps that, if downloaded, allow you to access the Premium service with a free account. Spotify's announcement is aimed precisely at users who use this type of illegal app: the email invites you to uninstall the pirated app, and to use the official one.
