Apple is close to buying Shazam, the popular song recognition app

Several US tech sites claim Apple is close to buying Shazam, the popular mobile app for recognizing songs. According to TechCrunch, the first site to report the news, the purchase will be made official on Monday 11 and will cost Apple about 400 million dollars. Shazam has been around since 2002 and was valued at around a billion dollars in 2015. In recent years, technology that allows the app to recognize a song after listening to it for a few seconds has become increasingly common and used by other apps. For these reasons, according to Recode, Apple may be more interested in the Shazam brand than in the technology that makes the app work.
