Amazon says goodbye to Alexa, but not the one you're thinking about

Amazon is ready to retire a not very well known service: it is Alexa Internet , which obviously has nothing to do with the much more famous voice assistant.

Alexa Internet , founded in 1996 but bought by Jeff Bezos' company three years later, is a company that deals with Internet traffic statistics: the most famous service is Alexa Rank , a list that collects the best websites accompanied by various information and statistics. The data comes from users who install the browser extension or from sites that choose to implement the tracking software.

Amazon has therefore decided to close this service: in a post on the support page, the Alexa.com team stated that the company has stopped the possibility of making new subscriptions on December 8, 2021 and that will completely close the site on May 1, 2022 . Subscribers will be able to export their data and delete their account.
