Google has started implementing a series of changes to the Gmail compose window . They seek to improve the user experience while the rest of the sections of the mail platform prepare to receive other news.
The first of the changes appears in the “To”, “Cc” and “Bcc” fields. Now, a new contextual menu is displayed that allows you to edit contact names, open their information card or copy their email address easily and quickly.
The Gmail compose window also debuts a feature to change how a recipient's name is displayed. For example, if a contact is listed as “CEO”, you can put another name right there.
Of course, it should be noted that the changes will not impact how the contact is saved. This is a designation that only others who receive the email will see.
Gmail wants to make sending emails even easier
Google has also improved the way recipients are displayed. Previously in the “To”, “Cc” and “Bcc” fields only the names of contacts or emails appeared, but now their profile images will also appear .
For added security, in the case of an organization, the external contacts with whom it has been interacted will be highlighted in yellow. This will be displayed both next to the profile photo and in a warning at the bottom.
Those in Mountain View are also implementing email validation in Gmail. This will prevent an email from being written incorrectly. Before, users would have had to double click to correct a mistake. But now they can modify it with a single click.
Google warns that this update could cause problems in the extensions that modify the recipients field, the search box or the creation of emails. Details can be found in this official company blog post.
It should be noted that while the rollout has already begun, many Gmail users may not yet receive these updates. Google says that the rollout will be gradual and will end by the end of the year.
