The Twitch hack did not go unnoticed on the internet. A security breach exposed source code, streamer payment details and other inside information on the network. Now, the streaming platform owned by Amazon mentions that, after advancing in the investigation, it is possible to confirm that the passwords and financial data (credit cards) of the users were not affected.
Twitch indicated this Thursday that is still evaluating the impact of the security issue. However, they already have a hypothesis about what happened. “Some data was exposed to the Internet due to an error in a configuration change of the Twitch server which was subsequently accessed by a malicious third party,” they say, and they point out that they are working “urgently” to investigate the incident.
Along these lines, they have specified that at the moment “ they have no indications ” that the login credentials (username and password) have been exposed. Furthermore, they claim that the full credit card numbers weren't leaked either, as the service stores only a portion of this information.

However, depending on the software they use, many may not need to manually change them. If you need it, you can check the new password in the Twitch control panel.
While now everything seems to indicate that the login credentials were not leaked, it does not hurt to take an additional measure. To do this, Twitch users who have not yet changed their password should do so. Additionally, they can enable 2-Step Verification to prevent future security issues. Of course, the investigation will continue and we have not yet reached the final conclusions of the case.
