DJI Introduces Ronin 4D, Focused on Professional Filmmakers

DJI, the benchmark company in fields such as drones or stabilization systems for cameras, has presented this Wednesday a new cinematographic system designed for professionals, the DJI Ronin 4D . This is composed of the Zenmuse X9 camera, a 4-axis stabilization system, a LiDAR focus system and a complementary control system.

The Zenmuse X9 full-frame camera is available in 8K and 6K versions. These can record in H.264, Apple ProRes and ProRes RAW, which gives greater flexibility when editing the material captured by these cameras. The 6K version is capable of recording at a maximum of 60 FPS in 6K or 120 FPS in 4K. The 8K version is also capable of recording 8K at a maximum of 75 FPS. Additionally, the X9 is compatible with DJI's DL mount, Leica M mount, and other mounts with short focal lengths.

The Ronin 4D stabilization system stands out for stabilizing on a new Z-axis which, according to DJI, effectively eliminates vertical camera shake. The brand also indicates that the DJI Ronin 4D allows you to capture sliding general shots without having to resort to a dolly.

The mark also applies to this stabilization system part of the learning collected with drones . Specifically, it achieves this fluency with an advanced algorithm that processes inputs from a set of ToF sensors (which measure distance), integrated IMU and barometer. DJI has also implemented the ActiveTrack Pro system that allows automatic tracking of moving objects.

To offer the best possible focus, DJI has also implemented a LiDAR rangefinder that uses laser measurements to achieve precise focus every time. This system is often used in autonomous cars to understand their surroundings and make decisions for themselves. The DJI Ronin 4D, depending on the brand, projects 43,200 points at a maximum of 10 meters, allowing each subject to be located even in dark environments.

The DJI Ronin 4D will be available in various packs . The 6K version includes the body, equivalent resolution Zenmuse camera, LiDAR rangefinder, brightness monitor, grips, battery and carrying case for 6,999 euros. The 8K version, in addition to the aforementioned and having a superior camera, includes a 1 TB PROSSD. Its price is 10,999 euros.
