Possible sabotage causes a drone crash in a city in China

What was to be a beautiful drone show in Zhengzhou, a city in China, ended up being a real chaos. Apparently, a supposed sabotage caused a rain of dozens of drones that fell slowly to the ground of the streets full of citizens.

The show, made up of about 200 drones, was part of an opening of a commercial establishment. Although the first minutes passed normally, the spectators began to notice that some of the aircraft were descending slowly until they fell to the ground .

Different videos published on social networks show citizens seeking refuge to prevent the devices from falling on them. Drones seem to go down slowly , but propellers in motion can cause significant damage.

The first hypotheses speak of a technical failure in the piloting system, but an Asian medium highlights that the company organizing the event claims to have been a sabotage by a drone company. This interfered in the system after losing the offer with another rival company . Something similar happened in May 2020, when a score of drones crashed during a show because of a boycott by another company.

China and the drive for drone shows

Fortunately, most events proceed normally and without damage. They also leave striking scenarios, such as the one that took place recently in Shanghai, where 3,000 drones performed a light show for the advertisement of Genesis, Hyundai's sub-brand and managed to break a Guinness record.

Drones in cities, yes, can be very dangerous for users. Recently, Wing, a drone company dedicated to delivery in Australia, decided to temporarily suspend its service after complaints from some customers, who recorded how the crows had discovered the weak point of their aircraft to try to shoot them down. The company confirmed that the birds did not pose a risk to its drones, and that they were very specific events.
