Microsoft begins testing xCloud integration on Xbox consoles

The integration of Xbox Cloud Gaming (xCloud) in consoles is taking a very important step for the future. Some Xbox Insider Program users in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha groups can now access cloud games directly from the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate section on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.

This feature will allow Xbox console owners to play the more than 100 titles included in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate without downloading them, that is, via streaming. Although, of course, it will also serve to test them in case they want to download or buy them later.

The xCloud integration into Microsoft's consoles is completely subtle. It will appear within the classic Store screen where you can check the available games. Those that are compatible with its execution in the cloud will show the option “Play” next to “Install”.

Microsoft will support xCloud streams with 1080p resolution at 60 FPS. But it will require a good internet connection. From Xbox they recommend about 15 Mbps download to run the service in standard quality, that is, at 720p. As you can see, this service is not intended to be enjoyed on 4K televisions, at least not at this time.

But it can be an excellent alternative to play exclusive titles of the next generation consoles on Xbox One and its variants. For example, the highly rated Microsoft Flight Simulator and The Medium.
