Amazon plans to launch its own TV with Alexa in the coming months

Amazon plans to augment its catalog of home devices with a new line of televisions, according to Business Insider. Amazon's first television has been in development for years and has had the participation of the Amazon Devices team, Lab126 -Amazon's company focused on hardware research and development-, and the I division. + D of the company.

The aforementioned source mentions some details of this new device manufactured by third parties, such as TCL , while the company continues to work on a self-manufactured model that will arrive later. Amazon TV will integrate Alexa, the assistant present in the Amazon Echo and Amazon Fire TV. It will also arrive with screen sizes ranging from 55 to 75 inches . There is no mention of image resolution or whether they will integrate Fire TV OS. However, it is very likely that the models have 4K resolution and include the aforementioned Amazon operating system.

Amazon TV will arrive during the month of October to take advantage of the Christmas campaign. The device will begin to be sold in the United States, but it is unknown if it will be available in other markets.

Amazon will add a TV to its line of smart devices

Currently, Amazon has a variety of products focused on television, known as Amazon Fire TV . The Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Cube connect to the television through an HDMI cable, and add a “smart” interface that allows access to apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, Disney +, Apple TV Plus, etc. In the Amazon catalog, however, there is no television as such.

In the United States, the company has partnered with some television manufacturers, such as Toshiba, to include Fire TV as the main operating system . On the other hand, Amazon sells a TV in India under the AmazonBasics brand that includes its own operating system. In the rest of the markets, on the other hand, the only Amazon devices with a screen are the Echo Show, which is far from being a television.

Amazon's smart devices, such as the Echo or the Fire TV, have proven to be tough adversaries against their competition. Google and Apple offer very good alternatives, but Amazon's wide variety and low prices are a very good draw for consumers. The company could rival manufacturers such as LG, Samsung or Hisense , in the same way: offering a variety of televisions for different audiences and attractive prices, without neglecting the functions.
