IKEA's first smart purifier is also a table

More and more companies are launching their own smart home devices, and the challenge they face is that they are not only functional, but also seamlessly integrate with the environment in which they are used. IKEA already has experience in the area and takes a new step with the presentation of its first smart air purifier . It is called STARKVIND and it is camouflaged in a side table to go unnoticed.

Actually, the IKEA smart air purifier will be available in two versions. In addition to the small table with the built-in appliance, users can opt for a variant without the cabinet, which is priced a bit lower. The operation of both alternatives is identical; it only changes its layout and visibility in the living room or bedroom where it is used.

According to IKEA, STARKVIND can be controlled manually and used independently. However, it is also possible to operate and program its operation from the IKEA Home app . It is worth noting that to access the air purifier from the application, it is necessary to have the TRÅDFRI connection device that is sold separately.

STARKVIND, the smart air purifier from IKEA with side table shape

The IKEA smart air purifier uses a three filter system that is capable of capturing particles of all types and sizes. Thus, it can deal with hair, dust, pollen, and even strong odors such as cigarettes. According to the manufacturers, it is effective at capturing 99.5% of the particles in the air that measure less than 2.5 micrometers.

The two versions of the STARKVIND include a selector that allows changing between five different fan speeds. They also have an automatic mode that uses an internal sensor to choose the fan power, depending on how many small particles it detects in the air.

STARKVIND will be available as an auxiliary table and in a separate variant, without furniture The IKEA smart air purifier was designed and optimized for use in rooms of no more than 20 square meters . The simpler version, without furniture, will be sold for 129 dollars , while the variant integrated in the side table will be available for US $ 189 . In both cases they will be available from next October.
