Nothing recently announced the release date of its first product: a true wireless earphone called Ear (1) . The mysterious company created by Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus, has not stopped showing small advances about this device, such as its design, commercial agreements and, now, its price and its main feature.
In Europe, Nothing's true wireless headphones will cost 99 euros . Carl Pei commented in an interview with TechCrunch that this is “a fairly fair price for consumers.” It also highlights that it will have similar characteristics to the AirPods Pro, which are currently sold for 279 euros.
“Users can expect a premium user experience, along with leading specifications, such as the ANC, all for 99 euros,” the company said in a statement.
One of these features, and the most prominent, will be the active noise cancellation (ANC). This technology will be able to capture outside sound thanks to three integrated microphones in the headphones. Then, through a series of algorithms, it will cancel the noise before entering our ear. We do not know, for the moment, if the Ear (1) will arrive with a system that allows adjusting the level of noise cancellation.
Nothing's headphones will have a transparent design
The company, which has as investors Tony Fadell (creator of the iPod), Casey Neistat (youtuber), Kevin Lin (co-founder of Twitch), Steve Huffman (CEO of Reddit) and Google Ventures, confirmed that the headphones will count with a transparent design . Nothing, at the moment, has only shown images as teasers. The final design of the Ear (1) remains a mystery.
The Ear (1) headphones, which will arrive on July 27, will be Nothing's first device, but not the only one. The company is preparing the launch of other products that, according to reports, could be focused on audio. Throughout these months, the London-based company has partnered with different firms that will collaborate in the creation or design of their next products. One of them is Teenage Engineering.
Carl Pei's firm also bought Essential, a mobile company founded by Andy Rubin and which ceased in 2020. This move, announced in February 2021, suggests that Nothing could also announce a smartphone at some point .
