Free roaming in the EU for a while for those coming from Great Britain

Free roaming in the EU for a while for those coming from Great Britain

One of the most appreciated moves by the European Union regarding travel has been the progressive abolition of the roaming teriffe. Traveling in EU countries and making use of calls, SMS and (within certain limits) a part of your data package is a great convenience. With the introduction of Brexit , the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union and operators in that country have decided to charge their citizens roaming charges for those traveling on the continent.

Vodafone UK and EE, two British operators, had decided that from January 2022 they would start charging roaming rates to their customers, but in these days the turnaround has arrived. With the new press releases, Vodafone UK will introduce price increases from the end of January, while EE from March 3, 2022 . Ireland, which has always been an open issue in EU-UK negotiations, will remain a “free zone”. In fact, neither of the two operators will apply roaming costs for those who visit that country.

As for the other UK operators, 3 UK plans to reintroduce roaming charges from May 2022 , while Virgin Media and O2 have yet to announce their intentions.
