Instagram starts testing its subscription system

Last November we let you know that Instagram was working on its own subscription system. This new feature has been designed to help content creators earn money directly from the app. The proposal has just seen the light, although at the moment it is available to a select few.

It was Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, who announced the availability of the new feature through a post on his official Twitter account. Mosseri claims that Instagram subscriptions will help creators “increase their monthly income“. Each one of them will be able to establish different rates that will vary between 0.99 dollars and 99 dollars, according to their criteria. In exchange for this monthly payment, the followers of said creators will be able to access exclusive content on the platform.

The new subscription feature is divided into three different services: Subscriber Lives, Subscriber Stories and Subscriber Badges. Both the first and second will allow subscribed users to access exclusive Lives and Stories, respectively. The third, on the other hand, will allow users to have badges that can be easily recognized in the comments and messages they leave for creators.

Instagram is implementing many changes

Just a few days ago we were surprised by the news that Instagram is preparing a new way of seeing the “Stories”. The company is working very hard to copy everything that its competitor TikTok does, and they have urged us to prepare for more videos and Reels during this 2022. In addition, Instagram has been one of the last important social networks to implement a subscription system within your app. Twitter, for example, included its Twitter Blue and Super Follows services last year.

In addition, Instagram will penalize all those users who spread said content by subscription through screenshots or any similar method. The application urges the creators participating in the experiment to report all users who record or capture such content.

At this time, Instagram subscriptions are only available to a small number of content creators; although the list is expected to expand over the next few weeks. When it is available, just enter the profile of your favorite creator and press the button that invites you to subscribe to their exclusive content.
