Following a growing concern about safety and phenomena of stalking through the use of AirTag , Apple has published a page called “ User's Guide to Personal Safety “, which aggregates details and supporting documents that can help users “when personal safety is at risk “.

Apple explains that the purpose of the new Personal Safety User Guide is “ to offer strategies and solutions to help you take back control “if you are concerned that someone has unauthorized access to your device or account. This page is divided into different sections , ranging from ways to act in case of danger to keeping information safe with complex passwords and various security strategies . The most interesting section is definitely the one focused on “staying safe with AirTag and other accessories Where is it ” .

Says Apple : To discourage unwanted tracking, Where is alerts you if an unknown AirTag or other accessory Where is is seen moving in your vicinity and for a certain time sending you the message “ Item found near you “. If you see this message on your device, an AirTag or other Where is it accessory that has been separated from the person who registered it is traveling with you and the owner may be in able to see its location .

Apple also includes a list of controls that people can access to share location with other users via the Where is application. The new guide therefore comes at a time when pressure is mounting against AirTag item tracking and how it could make stalking easier and more accessible , it remains to be seen whether or not Apple has further changes are in the works for AirTag, of which we speak practically only for this type of use.
