The new .it domains registered in 2021 were 550,257 . According to the study carried out by “Registro.it” , there was an increase in activation equal to 2.4% which overall brought the total of names.it to 3,450,337 ( data updated as of December 31, 2021).
According to the head of Registro.it and Director of the Iit-Cnr , Marco Conti , this is a result positive: « 2021 was the year of awareness and resilience, in which despite the uncertainties and false starts, many people they did not lose heart and continued to believe in digital as a means of recovery and relaunch, or even just to claim their presence on the net “.
To certify the correlation between the increase in domains and the trend of the pandemic, there are the data of March 2021: the monthly record of registrations (+60,537) was recorded together with the peak of the third wave of Coronavirus in Italy and the launch of the new Dpcm.
Between January and October, however, there was also a drop of 18.7% in the ..it domains of freelancers. A figure in line with that revealed by the trade associations, who spoke 40,000 fewer freelancers in 2020. The figure for businesses is also down: – 6.3% compared to 2020 .
