Starlink, SpaceX's satellite internet service, raises the price of its service –which was not exactly cheap– both in Spain and in its local market, the United States. In the case of the subscription, the increase is slighter, but the same does not happen with the antenna, whose price has been increased significantly.
Specifically, acquiring the Starlink starter pack (which includes the antenna, as well as other devices necessary for it to operate correctly) now costs 700 euros (including both taxes and shipping). An increase of 140 euros compared to the price for which it could be purchased a few days ago (560 euros).
In the United States, the antenna has gone from $499 to $599 (excluding shipping and taxes). In that country, in addition, the price of the monthly subscription has been increased by 11 dollars (going from 99 to 110). This increase, at least for the moment, has not occurred in Spain, where the service began to be operational in early 2022.
According to an email sent to US customers that has been verified by The Verge, the increase in the price of the antenna will also affect customers who had purchased the antenna before this change but not yet they have received it. In this case, yes, the increase will not be 100 dollars, but 50 (going from 499 to 549 dollars).

Why has Starlink increased your prices?
The official explanation behind this notable rise in prices is none other than the growing inflation that all the world's economies are currently facing. A factor that is not only affecting Starlink, but all kinds of products: energy, food, etc.
The increases, for the moment, do not affect the Starlink premium plan, which requires the purchase of a much more expensive antenna ($2,500) in addition to a significantly more expensive subscription ($500 per month ). This proposal, in return, promises a higher bandwidth (between 150 and 500 Mbps).
In any case, the prices of Starlink –even in its cheapest version– are significantly higher than those of any fiber optic provider in Spain, where it is easy to have access to a network of more than 300 Mbps for less than 50 euros per month.
The virtue of Starlink is that it can operate even in rural areas where the fiber network does not reach or the mobile telephone antennas do not provide a fast enough service. In those cases, SpaceX's service fits the bill. And, for the moment, it seems that this is where Elon Musk wants to focus.
The high cost, however, has not stopped the number of discharges. In recent days, the company revealed that it currently hasmore than 250,000 users worldwide. A not insignificant figure considering the characteristics of the product.
