The Meross Smart Ambient Light LED lamp is what can be defined as a bedside lamp but can be used to add a color accent in the living room, in a room dedicated to video games or it can be used as a background light in a bedroom to calm down. children who do not want to sleep in the dark.
The main features are the ease of color setting even in the absence of smartphone control, the variety of the color range and the possibility of both having colors with high saturation at high brightness and delicate pastel colors.

Unboxing and design
The lamp is sold in a very clean cardboard package where compatibility with Homekit, Alexa and Google Assistant are highlighted and that would not look bad even in an Apple Store. The truncated cone shape is that of an elongated siren with a white base and a glass-like polycarbonate element that has an opaque interior that can be colored by the internal LEDs. Inside the package there is a small 5V power supply that connects to the base, the manual in Italian and instructions for Homekit.

On the top there is a sticker that explains the function of the touch button below which serves both to turn on (single touch) and turn off (double touch) and to manage the color (quick touch from on) and the intensity (prolonged touch).
Installation and home automation control
While it is very easy to manage the lamp without any smartphone, the integration with Siri, Alexa and Google allows you to manage vocally switching on, off, coloring and intensity.
For those who do not want to use the aforementioned home automation systems, it is possible to control everything via Wi-Fi with the Meross application for iPhone and Android. The integration with Homekit takes place with the procedure shown below while for Alexa you need to download the Meross skill and then the lamp will be discovered automatically. We have not tried Google Assistant but the lamp can also be integrated with this system.

The colors of the lamp
While with Homekit and Alexa the selectable colors are many and can be managed with the continuity you see in the software color wheels, we preferred to photograph the lamp in two different areas (compared to colored objects and objects in black and white) and with different intensity of direct light to the contour in the basic colors of the lamp obtained with the basic rotation without smartphone or voice control.

At work
We have been using the lamp for several days and have installed it both in a corner of the living room and (later) in the bedroom. While in the room we wanted to understand if the intensity was enough to make it a good reading companion on the bedside table and a delicate enough light to program a colorful awakening but with delicate pastel tones, in the living room we placed it behind the TV to create a halo on the white wall when watching movies and as a basic night light so you can move with confidence when the other lights and TV are off.
The programming of these scenes can be obtained both with the Meross app and with more complex interactions with Homekit and other home automation systems. The lamp is always easily accessible and the supplied app also allows us to understand the strength of the wi-fi signal according to the position.
Conclusions
Easy to use without smartphone, versatile with home automation systems but above all very pleasant both with high intensity full colors and more delicate shades. The lamp has an excellent quality / price ratio: even if it is an inexpensive object it is not betrayed by a “plasticky” appearance thanks to the skilful use of materials and above all of a LED device capable of providing solid colors, whatever the intensity and tonality.
If we were to find a defect we could say that it is not exactly understandable that the shutdown takes place with the double touch and this would make it difficult to use in a B&B if the customers are not notified.
Retail price
The lamp normally costs € 46.99 including VAT to the public which is already a reasonable price for performance, ease of use and compatibility but Meross offers periodic discounts that bring it to an average price of about 34-37 Euros. make it even more convenient.
