SanDisk, a well-known brand in terms of solid state memories and accessories for mobile, tries again with the Wireless Charger Sync 10W, a device that combines an iPhone or Android charger with a backup system via Bluetooth to store your data locally.
The improvements compared to the first version are evident above all in reliability and speed: we have put it to the test, highlighting the differences with the first model, for those who already own it and also for those who want a charger with a few more functions.
Important dimensions
SanDisk Wireless Charger Sync 10W was born from the evolution of the first SanDisk iXpand Wireless Charger of 2019, which in turn was the evolution of the charging base with backup (but without induction charging) of two years before.
Aesthetically, this evolution is all inside, also because the base appears identical to the previous model, which already stood out for its very Apple-style design, even the dimensions are actually important.
From the constructive point of view we have an elliptical base of about 18 cm in length by 10 in width and 2 in depth. The top is covered with a soft, viscous white rubber, suitable for holding the phone while charging, preventing it from moving. The underside is always made of viscose rubber (to prevent the base from moving with a simple touch) with a white plastic belt.
In one of the short sides there is the connector for the power supply (with external power supply) and the MicroUSB connector (we expected a USB-C) for connecting to a computer and recovering data safely. In addition to this, in the lower part there is a small reset button, useful for example if you change owner and pairing.

Once the SanDisk Wireless Charger Sync 10W has been positioned, just download the App on your smartphone and follow the instructions to complete the installation phase, in which the charger and phone are paired.
Once the wheel operations have been carried out, the base is ready to operate: to activate it, just place the phone on it and the backup starts immediately, the first time taking a little longer while from the second it is much faster.

The device also warns the user that recharging and backup operations can increase the temperature of the smartphone, even if the temperature increase is contained. The base also automatically balances the power between charging and backup as needed.
The backup copies photos, videos and contacts from the phone to the base: for recovery we rely on the app, which works very well. On this point it should be emphasized that, compared to the first version, now everything works perfectly, while in the first version there was some hitch, partially recovered by the numerous updates, while here obviously SanDisk has also intervened on the hardware, because in our numerous tests there has never been any problem.
Operation is regulated by a small LED placed on the opposite side of the connectors that warns of the status based on color and pulsation.

As battery charger
The charger function is not secondary to the backup one and as mentioned it integrates in a completely natural way. Here, too, the improvements are evident, with much faster charging than before.
With an iPhone 8 the recharge went from 7% to 44% in thirty minutes (as seen in the screen), while in the old model it was reached 35% in 41 minutes.

As we said in the initial phase, the smartphone offers a higher temperature, but the increase is contained and we did not notice any inconvenience: during the test phase the charger remained alongside the Mac mini without problems.
The charge also works with a cover: we have tried with a rubber cover without problems, while there could be some limitations with metal covers or other materials that prevent induction.

The second incarnation of the SanDisk Wireless Charger Sync was born under a lucky star with excellent results both from the point of view of backup, completely automatic and silent, and from the point of view of induction charging, now fast, for all mid-range Android high and iPhones from model 8 onwards.
The automatic backup function is very convenient: iPhone for example has an automatic backup function via iCloud which, on the one hand, is activated only under a Wi-Fi network, on the other hand, it requires an increase in space via iCloud for a fee.
SanDisk Wireless Charger Sync instead offers a function via hardware, safe and silent, for which among other things, once the App is set up for the first time, you don't have to do anything else because it activates and runs completely automatically. .
The cost is higher than a normal wireless charger, but it contains an internal solid state memory, in our case of 256 GB and a software system that should not be underestimated.
If you need a hardware backup system for your smartphone and do not have a computer available, SanDisk's solution is more than recommended, as it is also for those looking for a wireless charger to put on the bedside table, but with a few more features. .
