There are so many bluetooth speakers in circulation, and choosing the one that suits your needs becomes an increasingly difficult task. Among the brands that have staked the most in this segment is Anker, with its own Soundcore brand. Today we are testing Motion + and Flare 2, two different speakers, but with a minimum common denominator: the presence of BassUp technology. Here's how they go.
Soundcore Flare 2
The first of the two speakers we tested is the Flare 2 model. This is the less powerful of the two, with its 20W. It is smaller and more manageable, which also offers two RGB rings, which allow you to illuminate your parties. The speaker has a cylinder shape with a flattened center section which makes it easy to hold even with one hand. The whole structure is covered by the fabric that protects the audio diffusion system – consisting of two drivers and as many passive radiators, for a total of 20 W of power – at three hundred and sixty degrees.
To the touch it is a really well made accessory, solid, sturdy and absolutely well assembled. On the lower part there is a rubber base, which allows it maximum stability when it is placed on a flat surface, such as any desk. On the upper part, however, the control panel, which although functional, is not very visible in the dark, and therefore difficult to use without lights.
How it sounds
For such a compact speaker, Flare 2 offers remarkable audio quality. The mid and high frequencies are excellent, with the bass well present, especially when playing with the equalizer present in the application. Listening to any musical genre was absolutely of quality, with a crystal clear voice, clear and without any smudging.The speaker has more than enough volume for listening in rather large rooms, but even outdoors it could certainly say yours, also because it has IPX7 certification.
Listening to music is therefore pleasant, but as anticipated, Flare 2 also has two RGB rings, which certainly serve to revive listening, even from a visual point of view. The two rings react to the rhythm of the music and can flash or change color tones according to the song you are listening to at the moment. This is a touch that embellishes the peripheral, and that surely makes it suitable for a party.
Soundcore app
It is also possible to connect the smartphone to the speaker via the Soundcore app, which offers the possibility to manage the equalizer, from a selection of pre-configured presets, or even via manual equalizer. The same app then allows you to change the RGB color style with a single tap: the same result, however, can be obtained via the upper control panel.
Conclusions
Soundcore's Flare 2 is definitely a quality speaker, worth all the required 79.99 euros. Moreover, it has a really interesting feature: the ability to connect up to 100 Flare 2 speakers together: we imagine them in a dark room. It would be a riot of music and colors.

Soundcore Motion +
The second of the speakers in tes is the Motion + model. It is a more powerful speaker, with a good 30W, and which could probably also be combined with a PC. In our case, we found that it fits the iMac perfectly, almost complementing it when placed under the bottom edge where the Apple insists. The result is very good, both from an aesthetic and functional point of view, and even with the speaker connected in bluetooth, we did not find any particular lag in the audio video synchronization: excellent, therefore, also for the use of films and TV series.
Motion + is totally different from the Flare model. It is definitely heavier, and has a shape that stretches horizontally, as if it were almost a mini soundbar. As such, it may also be suitable for use with TVs.
As for the ease of pairing with the smartphone, the same impressions as the Flare 2 are valid: lightning-fast pairing, and without the slightest problem. The Soundcore app, in this case, obviously does not allow you to manage any RGB, which are not present on this Motion +, but offers the possibility of managing the bass, through the presence of different presets. In addition, there is a practical app function, which allows the speaker to be automatically turned off after a certain number of minutes.
Soundcore Motion + offers an autonomy of 15 hours of playback, therefore absolutely suitable for animating an entire party, enjoys a particularly high volume, and will certainly also be used for outdoor parties. On the upper part there is a control panel for volume, track change and bass option. Also in this case the control panel is not illuminated and, therefore, difficult to use in the dark.
How It Sounds
The quality of this Motion + seemed slightly superior to that of the Flare 2 model, if only for greater power, and also for the presence of even more pronounced bass. It is a loudspeaker that aims more at substance, rather than aesthetics, and which does not offer any RGB.
The sound enjoys a lot of extension of highs and lows, going from 50 Hz to higher frequencies equal to 40 kHz, so as to easily fill the room with good sonic detail. The voice of singers in any musical genre is always crystal clear, and the overall quality is good, without any distortion, even at the highest volumes.
Also in this case it is possible to associate a second Motion + to obtain a more enveloping stereo sound. On a technical level, Motion + has been designed with an active crossover capable of maximizing the level of accuracy of reproduction, thanks to an internal digital signal processor (DSP) that splits the sound frequency, sending each part to individual amplifiers powered individually.
Conclusions
Motion + is an absolutely versatile solution. Not only a speaker to animate parties outside and inside the home, but also a possible ally for PC and Mac. Or, why not, also to improve the sound of the TV in the kitchen, perhaps that cheap 32 inch, which does not offer speakers up to par. of the situation. Well built, it offers a high quality / price ratio.
