Among Android smartphones, iPhones and tablets of all operating systems, there are more and more devices to be recharged at home. It may then be necessary to use a charging dock. We have tested one with numerous functions: it recharges all types of smartphones, even wireless, and adds a small night light that does not hurt. That's what it is.
The Wireless Mushroom dock, this is the name we can give it in the absence of an official one, considering the shape of the night lamp, offers many functions. First of all, it is a wireless charging pad, for wireless charging of iOS and Android devices.
To this adds the possibility of charging with wire of three terminals at a time: a first via Lightning connector, a second via USB-C, and a third via MicroUSB. It must be said that, considering the size of the devices, it is difficult to recharge 3 at a time, indeed impossible. You will likely be able to charge two devices at a time via cable, plus a third via wireless pad.
Beyond the charging functions, which we will return to shortly, the dock has another pleasant function, that of night light. And in fact, on the right side there is a small mushroom-shaped night lamp.
It turns on and off via a touch button on the dock itself. Considering the desk use that can be made of this dock, the lamp is really an added value, because it manages to slightly illuminate the work area, so as to be able to write in dim light, but without too much strain on the eyes.
The dock cable has a length of over 1 meter, so it offers the possibility of connecting it to a power outlet that may not be located exactly close to the desk.
Other functions include keeping the desk itself tidy, considering that all three charging cables, Lightning, MicroUSB and USB-C pass inside the dock itself.
The only cable that comes out is the USB one to be connected to the PC / Mac or to the power outlet, via an adapter. It should also be noted that all the cables mentioned above are included in the package.
As for charging speeds, a lot will also depend on the wall adapter the user chooses to use. Overall, the dock offers up to 10W charging power.
Testing various Android devices with fast charging, we were never able to activate fast charging. The wireless one has always stood at 0.55A, while the wired one at 0.91A, with peaks of 1.22 A. Overall, therefore, not a very fast charging, but standard.
The strengths of this dock are varied. First of all, the maximum number of devices that can be recharged at the same time. In theory up to four, but likely three, or even two.
In addition, the night lamp helps to keep the surrounding environment dimly lit with a soft light, so you can write even at night with the “company” of a small light source, without having to use the room lamp. Furthermore, it has the advantage of keeping the desk tidy.
Lastly, arguably most importantly, it includes all charging cables, including USB-C and Lightning, which alone could be worth the expense of the entire dock, or almost.
