The new Razer Viper 2019 is the latest in a market that is far from in crisis today: with the dizzying growth of the gaming sector (152 billion dollars will be spent on games in 2019, with a stable increase of 10% per year ) all the brands that deal with accessories today have a very interesting user base to invest in.
Razer, which for years has been one of the leading brands in the sector, spares no news and continues to amaze with new technologies, improving historical products from time to time.

Ambidextrous
The new Razer Viper 2019 is an ambidextrous wire mouse: the design shows some of the characteristic features of the products of the snake house, such as the luminous logo on the back and the particular cut of the front, with high finger support (signature of its author Stephane Blanchard), but compared to other models recently tested here in the editorial office such as the Mamba Elite, the Basilisk and the Lancehead Wireless, it offers a more slender line and an original joint in the upper part.
Construction
The front surface is in porous and shiny plastic on the back, while on the sides there are two non-slip rubber bands: the ambidextrous shape shows two buttons on each side, the two main ones, the wheel and an eighth button at the bottom, near the sensor.
The role of this last button is to change the resolution on the fly, through five preset sets, but manageable through Synapse: each press the button changes set and shows a different color, shown on the set, and changes the resolution of the mouse. The position of the button is designed to prevent unintentional switching, which happens in other mice from time to time.
The thread is covered in a fabric-like material (it looks like cotton to the touch) and completely prevents knots, even if the particular nature (very soft, different from the classic woven thread) has divided the opinions in the editorial office.
The typical Chroma effect is present only in the logo on the back, with a slow color cycle effect on macOS and Windows, but can be parameterized in the latter by installing the Synapse drivers (which are not strictly necessary but which allow accurate customization) .
Optical technology
The real novelty of this mouse is the presence of optical switches (buttons) instead of the classic electro-mechanical click: we reiterate here that this is not the difference between optical and laser scanner (on which we have explored in a separate article) but of a particular study regarding how the mouse receives click input.

We liked the solution a lot, because it makes the mouse quieter and lighter with a click that offers a more precise and less dispersive dimension, even if these are sensations that we cannot report in objective data.
The writer hopes that the same technology, over time, will arrive in more mouse models, even perhaps not only Razer, because it is an innovation not only of yield but also of production that makes the product better from all points of view. .

How's the Razer Viper 2019
After a few weeks of testing we can say that the new Razer Viper 2019 is doing very well and, despite not having tried the previous model, we are optimistic to say that it is an improvement that leads the model not to envy the brothers in the price list.
The handle is more slender and less demanding than other mice such as, for example, the Basilisk, therefore perhaps less suitable for those who use the “claw” mouse but the ambidextrous shape makes it a reference model for the left-handed market.

The Chroma lighting is contained, but the accuracy of the Chip at 16,000 dpi is at the top in the market and the quality of the materials is very good as well as the novelty of the quick switch button under the body with LED indicator that returns to the resolution set. .
Those who use it with Windows must absolutely install the Synapse drivers, which offer a very interesting interface and power on customization, on macOS the mouse has less possibility of intervention but still offers excellent mechanics, an excellent grip and, last but not least, a blow an eye of all respect.
Considerations
Like all Razer products, the new Viper 2019 also offers uncompromising quality, at a price range typical of gamer mice (89.99 euros) flush.
Beyond the technological choice for the switch, which is also interesting, the mouse appears perfectly at ease in the very competitive Razer's list and an excellent presence in the market, from Gamer and professional.
There are no negative sides, except in the controversial choice for the thread, but it is an opinion, and on the somewhat slender and ambidextrous design, clearly directed towards a less specialized and more generalist, but still demanding public.
