GOCOMMA 1202 review, the cube-shaped Schuko power strip

A slightly extravagant accessory but that can actually solve some situations in which there is a need for more sockets to connect the various appliances: it is GOCOMMA 1202, a power strip tested by our editorial team in recent weeks, which makes its strong point ( but it can also be a weakness) its characteristic cube shape, thanks to which it manages to offer five sufficiently spaced sockets occupying only one.

How it is made

This adapter measures approximately 7.5 centimeters per side and which becomes 11.5 if you also want to consider the protrusion of the plug even if, the latter, is able to disappear completely inside the majority of sockets on which can be slipped on.

Both the plug and the five sockets it makes available, one on each side, are in fact of the Schuko type, the ones more commonly called “German sockets” and whose installation has been preferred for several years in rooms used as kitchens, given that almost all of household appliances that end up on the shelves of electronics stores (but also for sale online) and subsequently in our homes, use plugs equipped with this type of connection.

The whole structure is made of sturdy polycarbonate, apparently resistant to possible bumps and falls and with an internal structure rigid enough to allow it to resist crushing: by squeezing it between the fingers, the plastic does not flex in the slightest and gives all the impression of being able to overcome even most important stresses.

Even the metal contacts of the plug are well thought out and installed with extreme solidity: trying to bend them by squeezing them between your fingers they do not move even a millimeter.

The overall dimensions referred to at the beginning of this paragraph are however made necessary by the electrical connections and the cable housings for the sockets and this is why if you compare it with any multi-socket adapter with three-pole ports it appears much larger and cumbersome.

How is it going

The advantages of using GOCOMMA 1202 emerge only when it is inserted into a Schuko type socket as it perfectly accommodates the plug of the adapter. In fact, if you want to use it with a classic three-pole socket, in addition to requiring the use of an adapter, the protrusion of the whole system is greater than that which would be obtained using single adapters for Schuko sockets on a common three-pole socket.

Certainly the number of doors available (five) far exceeds any other system since, in addition to the three sockets, it is usually necessary to purchase an electric power strip and whose dimensions are clearly greater than those of the cube. Furthermore, the greater protrusion, combined with the weight of the connected plugs, tends to cause the cube to tilt by gravity with the risk that in the long run it may even come loose.

But if, as we said, it is used with the right socket, then GOCOMMA 1202 becomes a fundamental ally to be able to connect up to five Schuko-type plugs with minimum space and without having to use power strips that would take up more space and require a stable surface. in order to be supported.

In fact, this cube fits perfectly and, thanks to the conformation of the Schuko socket on which it is inserted, it is able to withstand the weight of the five potentially connectable plugs, protruding only 7.5 cm per side previously declared.

Furthermore, the sockets are sufficiently spaced to allow you to connect the various appliances and direct their cables without knots and tangles. Above all, it is able to eliminate the space problem that is sometimes created when connecting power supplies (such as those of the computer) directly in traditional power strips.

Here, in fact, the space between one socket and the other is often narrow and does not allow you to connect two or more in series, forcing you to alternate them with classic plugs in order to connect as many as possible.

Conclusions

To buy it or not to buy it depends on the number of Schuko plugs that must be connected and, above all, on the presence or absence of plugs equipped with this particular connection. In the kitchen you will probably also have several and if you therefore want to reduce the number of cables and adapters to connect the coffee machine, the food processor, the planetary mixer, the blender, the toaster and all the other appliances (up to a maximum 3.680 W), take the meter and, having checked the necessary measurements, do not postpone the purchase because GOCOMMA 1202 can really make space and order on the work table.

Price to the public

GOCOMMA 1202 is on sale on Gearbest for only 7.27 euros . On the net for half the price you can generally buy an adapter to be able to insert a Schuko socket on the more traditional three-pole sockets.

If you already have to connect at least two Schuko plugs to a single Schuko socket, then this accessory will save you money (and space).
