Nowadays wireless charging is becoming increasingly popular, and there are many terminals, especially top of the range, which now allow wireless charging. Even Apple, for some years now, has included support for Qi charging on its smartphones, starting with the iPhone 8, and up to the current XS and XR line. The Lecone charger under test, however, not only has the function of recharging the device, but it is a real desk organizer, with a large compartment in which to house pens, pencils, scissors, and other stationery tools.
Aesthetically, the product looks good. It is entirely covered in gray fabric, with a minimal appearance, certainly more suitable for a modern study than for an antique wooden desk. It is composed of a single piece, but conceptually it is divided into two: on one side the pen holder, on the other the support for the smartphone to be recharged.
This is a solution that can satisfy most, because it is often right in front of a desk that you need to recharge your smartphone. This Lecone charger thus combines business with pleasure. Moreover, the charging stand leaves the smartphone completely usable and with the display absolutely accessible, so perhaps you can also make hands-free calls while working on the PC.
The dimensions of the product are 17 x 10 x 10 cm , with the section dedicated to the refill 8 cm wide with a surface of 'support for the smartphone of 11 cm . If, on the other hand, you look at the organizer only, it has a storage compartment of 7 x 9 cm .
The space provided by the charging stand is absolutely suitable to summarize all the latest smartphones released on the memrcato, so from iPhone XS to Galaxy S10 +, without forgetting Mi 9, and other terminals with displays of about 6 inches. Below the space for the smartphone there is also an LED that indicates when the terminal is charging. A blue light indicates that the device is waiting for a smartphone to be recharged, while a flashing blue light indicates that the device is not positioned correctly, even if it is difficult to misplace the positioning, since the smartphone rests almost entirely on the stand. Finally, a green light indicates that the device is charging.
In terms of technical characteristics, it offers fast charging up to 10W for compatible devices , such as the Samsung Galaxy, while on the iPhone side comes to cover 7.5 W fast charging , thus being able to charge iPhones at the maximum power provided by Apple.
The manufacturer guarantees integrated safety functions, such as protection at high temperatures and protection against short circuits, which therefore allow the terminal to be safely recharged during the entire charging process.
If on the one hand the product is versatile, suitable for meeting rooms, classrooms, restaurants, hotels and a thousand other uses, on the other it is clear that the user will also be interested in the charging speed. From this point of view we tested a Xiaomi Mi 9, which supports wireless charging up to 20W. While using the original wall charger, we were unable to activate the fast recharge, and through a meter we recorded a recharge of about 1.2A, not very fast, but still able to recharge the terminal as it would be done with any wall charger that is not quick.
Conclusions
There are so many wireless chargers available on the market, all very similar to each other. This Lecone, in fact, offers a different use, that of pen organizer. And this is precisely what it could do as a tip of the balance, because in fact placed on a desk it has its why. Aesthetically valid, modern and minimal, it offers charging characteristics similar to all products available on the market in this price range. The charging position of the terminal is also really convenient, and leaves the display perfectly visible to the user, who can continue to use it even while charging.
