In recent days, a second Anmeilu cyclist backpack has arrived in the editorial office which, compared to the previous one, at a glance seems to differ only in the greater capacity supported. Actually, after a deeper look, there are many more innovations: let's find out.
The main differences between 18L and 25L
As we said, looking at it looks like only the older brother of Anmeilu Vitality, the 18L backpack we told you about some time ago: same colors, same shape and same materials, with a tear-resistant, water-repellent fabric and equipped with some gray areas reflector.
But just take it out of the box with which it arrives home to immediately notice the first difference: the weight. Inside the back there is in fact a sort of back protector stiffened by two metal rods placed on the sides. It is slightly curved to follow the shape of the back and helps to maintain the shape of the backpack even if it is loaded with large and angular objects.
This is very important given the capacity (25 liters) of this model, as it allows you to carry more than a few objects useful for a picnic, perhaps for several hours, without annoying the cyclist while driving or unbalancing him excessively. The perforated fabric that wraps the back and keeps it slightly detached from the backpack is fundamental, which greatly improves breathability, especially in summer.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the shoulder straps, which are equally robust compared to the smaller but less breathable version. The cover is in fabric and is much more invasive than the 18L, where we found large holes along the entire shoulder strap.
This backpack also lacks the elastic bands to block the excess portions of straps after adjusting the length, so to avoid having dozens of dangling cables you will need to equip yourself with knots or other systems of your own invention.
On the other hand, there is the hole for the passage of the camel bag tube, which can easily be housed inside one of the backpack compartments and for which there are also plastic hooks along both shoulder straps to block the outer end.

The pockets
This 25L Anmeilu backpack offers a series of pockets, straps and openings specifically designed to make cycling as enjoyable as possible.
The main compartment is divided by some internal pockets that allow you to store even small objects and keep them separate from the rest. There is ample storage space in one of the larger pockets.
Outside, on the bottom, there are two pockets: in one we find the waterproof bag (red) that allows you to cover the external facade of the backpack and protect the contents even in case of heavy pouring rain. In the other, slightly higher, the helmet-holder net is sewn, which can be easily extracted and locked to the two hooks on the upper side of the backpack by means of the special carabiners.
There are also two small pockets with elasticated closure on the sides of the backpack that can also accommodate a bottle of water or other useful items during bike rides.
Compared to the 18L model, there are practically two more pockets: one, the largest, is located immediately after the main compartment. It cannot be opened completely, but it offers a lot more space to accommodate, for example, a sweatshirt but also bulky objects such as a 70-200mm lens with reflex (to say).
The second pocket, the most external, has some internal dividers and here too there is space to accommodate for example a tablet, a folding umbrella and the like. The latter then has another small pocket with vertical opening on the outside where to put small objects such as a bunch of keys.
There is also a handle that allows easy transport with one hand, as well as several straps on the back to adjust the thickness of the backpack, which can thus be thinned (even a lot) if there are not many objects stored inside. Another, on the chest, allows the backpack to be securely locked to the body, partially unloading its weight in this area. The rest of the weight is discharged on the waist by means of another strap accompanied by two side pockets.
Conclusions
The choice of this model or the smaller 18L model will mainly be dictated by two factors: the rigidity of the backrest and the capacity of the backpack, which comes in the form of some extra pockets. If you are looking for a backpack capable of carrying a greater amount of objects and therefore built to better distribute a greater weight on the back, then this 25L version is certainly better than the previous one, taking into account the lower breathability of the shoulder straps and the absence of clamps for locking excess belts, in our opinion the true absent unjustified.
If we were to place them on bike rides, the 18L is great for the city, while with the 25L you can even venture out with a consequent picnic.
