The new Fitbit Inspire HR arrives on the market as an evolution of the previous Alta HR model, inheriting its market range and some of the features, although as we will see the differences are substantial.
We used it for a few weeks and were pleasantly impressed: it fits both wrists, as we will see for different reasons, and even if something about the software is still missing it is already a confirmation of a successful legacy.
The complete Inspire line: the three HR models on the left, the two normal ones on the right
Fitbit Inspire HR, the review
On the wrist
Once you open the Inspire HR box, you can see what we understood from the Italian presentation a few weeks ago, and that is that the legacy of the Alta HR model is only superficial.
Inside there is the bracelet, a second wider strap for those who, like the writer, have a generously sized wrist and obviously the charger cable with USB-A connector (but no power supply, in fact we have connected it to this alarm clock ).
On this we must make a criticism of Fitbit, which continues to promote charger cables whose shape is always different, penalizing the most loyal users who find as many chargers as bracelets.

For the rest, the model comes with a battery that is about halfway charged, useful for the first configuration via the App which is done simply by following the instructions, once registered.
Being a different category, the model is not affected by the presence, among the registered devices of the bigger brothers such as Versa or Ionic and can be inserted very easily by scrolling through the various screens, an operation absolutely within everyone's reach.
Before leaving the bracelet in charge, we also changed the strap, putting the wider one: the operation is feasible thanks to a small lever on the inside, however the system is lower for practicality than that already seen on Charge 3, to which this Inspire clearly looks.

Light as air
We wore the Inspire HR both on the left wrist, replacing the Fitbit Versa, and on the right, leaving an always elegant Daniel Wellington on the left, a position that in our opinion is very interesting for those who do not want to give up a traditional watch, while appreciating the particularities smart.
In both cases the bracelet is extraordinarily light and, thanks to its water resistance up to 50 meters, it really allowed us to forget that we have it on the wrist in all activities, from the office to the shower, from running to playing with the child in the park. .
The strap wears well and appears secure: it never happened that it came loose or seemed less than secure: note that the strap is one of the differences of the HR model compared to the normal one, without heart rate detection and with straps with button hook.
The thickness is not irrelevant, just a little over a centimeter in the thickest part of the ogive but the shape is designed to maximize the grip on the wrist, so that the PurePulse detector works at its best.

Personalization
The customization options are many, and concern both the strap, with many models available both on the Fitbit website and on Amazon.it, and the display.
For the latter, the options are a bit similar to those of his brother Charge, and even if it is unfortunately not possible to follow the delicious Fitbit Studio program, dedicated only to Versa and Ionic, the dials are not lacking: eight in the meantime we write and go from the trendiest ones like Tron or Segments to other more classic ones like Simple Stats or Post Analog.
We would like to point out here, however, that we would have liked to have one or two dials where the time does not appear, which is redundant if accompanied by the bracelet to a watch: a dial with only the statistics or even empty would have been appreciated, we hope that Fitbit will take the invitation. and surprise us with future updates.
Already now, however, the dial is only the beginning of a journey that can be carried out both from the app and, in fact, directly from the display: scrolling up in fact opens the various Apps (training, relaxation, timer and alarm) while scrolling in low, statistics such as steps, calories and daily activity appear, the same ones that appear in some quadrants simply by touching a part of the screen.
The side button serves as a return button, while a tap on the display is enough for confirmation. The display is also used to carry smartphone notifications such as SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram and others, with the possibility in some cases of making a quick response (but only on Android). Each notification is accompanied by a vibration: from the App we can define which services must perform the notification and which not. Also from the App it is also possible to insert silent alarms, one of the most interesting things of this type of device.
Battery use, officially five days old, is fairly stable, but in our experience we have found that there are watch faces that consume more than others.
Factor not to be underestimated: all data collected, statistics and objectives are also displayed by browser
Fitbit network
Like every Fitbit model tested, we point out here the opinion that the Fitbit App for iOS and Android is probably the most successful of all those we have tried with a test of maturity that is consolidated from year to year.
The options within the App are many, mostly free but also with paid content, with a great common goal that becomes clear after a very short time: the motivation to do more activities.
What transpires is a set of services that use the bracelet as a detector, but whose brain is in the App: there are the motivations, the daily, weekly and monthly movement statistics, the goals and even small feasible games by transforming the steps. daily in races or walks in the most beautiful places in the world.
Challenges are also available, very interesting because they encourage users to overcome themselves before their friends but it is different to underline what is probably the best system for detecting the physiological rhythm during sleep in the whole smart market today.
Thanks to the heartbeat sensor and a very precise algorithm, and the ability to work for almost a continuous week, sleep detection is a very important factor that, honestly, must make users think.
The writer has a small child whose sleep has always been a chimera, and observing sleep statistics helps if not the little one in the house, at least the adults to understand the reason for the numerous awakenings in the averages or in the trend.
Considerations
It goes without saying that this Inspire HR is undoubtedly a step forward compared to the Alta and Alta HR, with a more decisive and functional line, the same detection capabilities but a more varied display and complete water resistance.
All this, we emphasize, at a really interesting price of 99.99 Euros for the HR model (instead of 149.00 Euros for Alta HR) or 69.99 Euros for the normal model.
The use of custom bracelets is very interesting: there are many on the Fitbit website, but the alternative market is also teeming with choices
We do not see real defects, if not some possible software improvements (especially for the dials) that could be reality when you read these lines, while we greatly appreciate not only the use of smart technology by Fitbit (which over the years has made school) but also the extreme drive towards customization between materials and graphics, a weapon that can undoubtedly shift the weight of the scales in the head of those who have to make the choice.
Pro : • Improved quality ratio compared to High • Lightweight and with large display
Versus: • Interactivity is limited • A display without time is missing
Price: 99.99 Euros (Fitbit Inspire HR) or 69.99 Euros (Fitbit Inspire)
Fitbit Inspire HR is available in the normal version in White, Black and Lilac at a price of 99.99 euros, while the Fitbit Inspire version (without heartbeat) is available at a price of 69.99 euros.
