Tribit MaxBoom review, the speaker with Xbass that also works in pairs

Home Reviews ,,,,,Tribit MaxBoom is the latest addition to the editorial office, a bottle-shaped Bluetooth speaker that combines linear design and high quality materials with powerful and three-dimensional sound.

How it's made

A large part of the case is covered with a fabric that wraps the driver's protection grid from possible dust infiltrations and at the same time gives a simple but elegant appearance. The rest of the structure is instead made of polycarbonate with a rubberized coating that adds value to the product, as well as hiding any scratches and fingerprints.

The main buttons for controlling the music reproduction “+”, “o”, “-” are particularly striking, very large and in contrast with the rest of the speaker due to the light gray color. On the opposite side are rather camouflaged those for turning the speaker on and off, the Bluetooth button and the one to activate or deactivate the Xbass function. Here there is also a thick rubber cap that protects the 3.5 mm audio jack socket and the microUSB input for battery charging from dust and water infiltrations.

As we said, the shape of Tribit MaxBoom is similar to that of a water bottle, with flat sides but strongly rounded at the corners. The two circular bases are strengthened by a rubber protrusion that space the two passive radiators, characterized by a shiny plastic plate that vibrates to the sound of low frequencies. In one of these a sturdy non-adjustable strap is already attached: this too made of rubber, due to its small size, does not pass the wrist but rather a couple of fingers or the handlebar of a bicycle. Eventually a carabiner could also be attached to it.

How it sounds

Tribit MaxBoom is beautiful and elegant, but its greatest value lies in the audio quality. At maximum volume it is really powerful, capable of filling a room of about 15-20 square meters and without distorting the sound. The highs are bright, the mids full-bodied and enveloping, while the lows are present but without exaggerating. By activating the Xbass function by pressing the appropriate button, all the equalization changes instead: the bass dominates the scene (try to activate and deactivate the function in the first minutes of the Albinoni adagio in G minor) and the change is also seen visually through the increased vibrations of the two passive radiators. With this mode the highs and mids are overwhelmed a little and the audio is overall slightly darker and closed.

However, what is most appreciated about Tribit MaxBoom is the three-dimensionality. In fact, it incorporates two speakers on the sides of the buttons which, combined with the two radiators, offer practically three hundred and sixty degrees of sound diffusion. Placing it in the center of a table will not cause major differences in audio quality or sound power.

    Particular signs

There are basically two peculiarities of this speaker that make it partly different from others. First of all, it can pair with two Bluetooth devices at the same time: in this way, just press the Bluetooth button to switch from one to the other without having to turn off, restart or unpair the speaker.

Another interesting function lies in the possibility of connecting two Tribit MaxBoom speakers wirelessly. In this way the sound power doubles, also guaranteeing a certain stereophony if they are positioned on the sides of a room, perhaps to animate a party.

    Conclusions

Tribit MaxBoom is an excellent product, taken care of right from the choice of materials, in the design but also and above all in the audio quality. Three-dimensionality and sound power are its greatest strengths, combined with the possibility of doubling everything by connecting two speakers together thanks to the integrated wireless mode. The only discordant note is the price (69.99 euros on Amazon), in line with the quality of the product but superior to many other competing solutions that could actually take away the market if the public were satisfied with cheaper materials and renounce the diffusion. three-dimensional sound.
