What if we told you that just 8 euros are enough to transform the electrical system into smart? Here is Alfawise PE1004T, the super cheap smart and connected socket, which works with the Google Assistant and Alexa.
Apparently it is a common schuko socket, completely white, well assembled, light in weight, but sturdy to the touch. At the technical level, the card reports a voltage of 90 – 250 V AC 50 Hz / 60 Hz, a maximum current load of 10A, works on wireless frequencies 2.412 – 2.484 GHz, supports the IEEE wireless standard IEEE802.11b / g / n, and works at a temperature between 10 and 40 ° C.
After inserting it into the socket, it will be sufficient to download the Smart Life app, or “Tuya” to be able to use it in a smart way. After pressing the power button for a few seconds and starting the pairing mode, you will need to connect the socket to your wireless connection, following the simple information on the screen. From this moment on, the app will automatically recognize the socket, providing the user with a totally smart control, via smartphone.
The main screen, in addition to providing practical and useful information on the weather, shows a list of all the smart sockets installed in the house. By clicking on each of this it will be possible to control its ignition in different ways. A simple tap will allow you to turn the socket on or off, but there is no lack of more advanced features.
It is possible, in fact, to set a timer to switch off the socket after a certain programmed period of time. It is also possible to insert daily schedules: setting the automatic switching on and off at certain times of the day.
It works really well, and after a first configuration that lasted a few seconds, we always managed to turn the socket off and on via the smartphone, without any errors, nor the slightest lag. The socket always responded correctly to commands.
Google Assistant and Alexa
As if that weren't enough, the Alfawise smart socket supports Alexa and the Google Assistant. This means that it will be possible to control the switching on and off via voice commands.
It is sufficient to connect the Smart Life account with which you made the first access through the app for the first configuration, and Google (or Alexa) will automatically recognize all the sockets previously configured in the house. At this point it will be possible to call up the voice assistants, both on smartphones and via smart speakers, to ask to switch on the smart socket.
Possible uses
It goes without saying that the uses at home are innumerable. During the holiday period we decided to use the socket, with programmed on and off times, to power the Christmas tree lights.
After the holidays, however, we moved the socket to the kitchen to power the coffee machine. From the Google home app we have renamed the socket to “coffee machine”: we just have to ask Google to turn the coffee machine on or off. All this with just 8 euros.
Conclusions
If you are thinking of buying a smart socket, this Alfawise is really for you. The advice is to place a multiple order directly and buy more than one, depending on your needs at home. Well built, sturdy to the touch, but above all perfectly functional, with support for the most used voice assistants to date. The price, then, is truly unbeatable: just 8 euros.
