Tribit Xsound Go review, the powerful and waterproof portable speaker

Home Reviews ,,,,,In the past few days we have tried Tribit Xsound Go, a portable speaker that makes autonomy of its strength: 24 hours non-stop declared by the manufacturer for a speaker that sounds really good, is small but nevertheless extremely powerful.

As did

Tribit Xsound Go is among the most portable speakers we have tested in relation to power: it measures about 17 x 6 x 6 centimeters but on balance it is a 12 W speaker, on average more than double that of other speakers that occupy the same. space.

Constructively it is really well done. The whole surface is made of polycarbonate which is very sturdy to the touch: by knocking on it with your hand you feel that it is “pretty tough” and the satin finish that covers it is nice to touch and difficult to get dirty (in short, no fingerprints to remove with a cloth after handling it for a while).

The buttons are flush, easy to press voluntarily but impossible to activate if, for example, you let the case wander inside a bag. This is an advantage to take into account given our previous experiences with these objects: they are made to be carried around and it has happened more than once that we have an already lit box in our hands and even more often almost completely empty.

What it offers

As we said it is a 12 W speaker. This power is divided by two 6 W drivers that offer clear and crystal clear audio at high frequencies and sufficiently filling in the mids. They are accompanied by a passive radiator that amplifies the bass in an excellent way, managing to “pump” at maximum volume with a truly excellent overall sound performance.

It is IPX7 certified so it resists abundantly against splashes of water that can be caused by the bounce of a few drops in the shower, by a sudden shower of rain or by a water balloon that has burst a little too close to the speaker. A resistance that we can confirm from one of our tests during which we tried to wet it by spilling a glass of water on it: the case continued to sound as if nothing had happened.

There is Bluetooth 4.2 LE technology for wireless connection to devices, with an operating range of 20 meters without obstacles but for those who want to connect it to an older generation MP3 player there is fortunately the 3.5 mm audio jack appropriately protected by a solid rubber stopper.

If desired, it is also possible to use the speaker for video calls or hands-free phone calls: there is a microphone that responds well to the use for which it is designed, reducing background noise and also working well for use. combined with the voice assistant recalled from the smartphone.

Conclusions

At maximum volume it is quite powerful, capable of adequately filling a living room of about 6 x 4 meters. What is striking, however, is the three-dimensionality: classical music pieces such as Mozart's concert no.21, Beethoven's symphony no.9 or Chopin's nocturne no.12 are truly engaging, with an excellent rendering of all frequencies, from crystal clear highs to deep, vibrant lows.

From a structural point of view, it seemed to us to be built really well, the case is very rigid, thick and covered with a very light rubber coating that greatly improves its grip. The wrist lanyard is comfortable and adjustable in length (just undo the knot to redo it to the desired position) as well as the buttons are just as practical: they are flush, therefore impossible to press by mistake if, for example, you put the case in a backpack, but very convenient when you want to adjust the volume or manage music playback without touching the smartphone.

Pro

  • Small and portable
  • Powerful
  • Waterproof
  • Flush keys, prevent accidental clicks when stored in a bag
  • Against

  • Above average price
  • Retail price

Tribit Xsound Go has only one relatively out of tune note: the price (it is on sale on Amazon for 35.99 euros). Despite the excellent features on the market, it is still possible to obtain similar quality at significantly lower prices. What you pay for here is above all the quality of the materials and the attention to design.
