Oukitel K7 review, less than 100 euros for 50 days of autonomy

Home Hi-Tech Android World ,,,,, Chinese smartphones have flooded the market for years; producers compete to acquire a small slice of the market, perhaps to be stolen from the most popular brands. Oukitel K7 tries it by proposing a rugged design, and a huge 10,000 mAh battery. We tested it for several days before letting the battery drain, here's what we think.

The inside of the package offers no particular surprises. In addition to the terminal, also a charging cable, wall adapter and a rather soft transparent silicone cover and an OTG cable. A standard equipment, in short, which for the selling price of this terminal, under 100 euros, is more than acceptable.

Technical characteristics

In terms of technical characteristics, the K7 offers a 6.0-inch screen, unfortunately only HD +, with Android 8.1 powered by a 1.5GHz MT6750T Octa Core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. On paper, not too powerful a terminal.

In fact, the data sheet speaks of features dated at least a couple of generations. In everyday life, as will be explained further on, everyone feels the limits, at least for those used to high speeds and maximum fluidity.

Among the other features that could make the terminal attractive, the various on-board sensors, such as the accelerometer, the electronic compass, the fingerprint sensor, the gravity sensor, the brightness sensor, the magnetic one, gyroscope, while at the level of connectivity the smartphone records the possibility of Dual Sim, or single Sim and MicroSD to expand the memory from 16 GB, very little.

Aesthetics

Like many other rugged terminals, Oukitel K7 is not intended for a jacket pocket, not even a trouser pocket. Just take a look at the measurements to realize how big it is: 16.80 x 7.80 x 1.45 cm, with a weight of about 300 grams.

In a landscape where the size of smartphones tends to get bigger and bigger, handling a 6-inch is no longer a problem.

In any case, weight and dimensions are the price to pay when choosing a rugged, that is a solid and robust terminal with 10,000 mAh of battery. It is practically a power bank, which could also give you a couple of days of use.

The elongated front is completely black, where the display stands out for the most part, with two magnesium alloy inserts in the upper and lower part, in gold color. On the back, however, the back cover is covered with Australian calfskin.

The materials, of course, are not among the most expensive appreciated in a terminal, but overall the Oukitel K7 looks like a solid one-piece. The amount of plastic actually visible is minimal, only around the edges of the device.

Daily use

As already mentioned, the data sheet does not bode well. The fluidity is not the best, the 2GB of RAM does not help in multitasking, and the overall performance is not in the least comparable to the current medium or top of the range from 150/200 euros.

The display is not bad, and you can use it to quietly watch a series of videos, from Youtube to Netflix, which with good brightness and enjoyable colors, and without having to worry about draining the battery, which ensures truly infinite autonomy.

The NFC is missing and the fingerprint scanner on the back unlocks the terminal two times out of five, therefore not particularly reliable.

The multimedia factor shows its limits, with a good 3x zoom, but a suboptimal quality. In short, it is not a camera phone, and you can use it for some Sunday shots, but nothing more. There. a series of shots with the terminal:

Battery and functionality

The real reason to buy OUKITEL K7 is autonomy. The 10,000 mAh, combined with an HD + only screen, and a low-powered processor, will make you forget the battery charger for several days. The manufacturer declares 50 days of standby time.

We didn't leave it in the box for that long, but in any case the terminal also ensures two and a half days of use, even if there are many variables that intervene.

The terminal is also ideal for those who need to talk on the phone for several hours during the day, perhaps for work reasons. It is perfect for those who travel and want to watch movies on the go, without worrying about downloading it.

It is not suitable for gaming, although the large screen lends itself to running casual games that do not require 3D acceleration. For less than 100 euros it is impossible to expect graphics power from the terminal to run Fortnite or other 3D titles, but you will not have problems with Boom Beach, Clash Royale, Pokémon GO and others like it.

Conclusions

If you are looking for power, fluidity and the ability to run the heaviest games on Google Play, Oukitel K7 is not for you. It is a terminal with great autonomy, able to keep you company while traveling: commuters will be able to enjoy hours of movies and TV series, being sure to still have their smartphone charged when they arrive at their destination.

The multimedia department will be used just for a few shots, when you just can't do without it, while the price is to be considered the winning weapon of this device.

On GearBest in the period of discounts it costs just 97 euros in the 2 + 16 GB version. There is also the 4 + 64GB one, with Full HD + screen, but the cost rises to about 190 euros.
