iClever BoostCare, review of colored headphones for children

Home iPadia iPad Accessories ,,,,,The evaluation of a pair of headphones usually focuses on factors of quality and innovation, but in this case we had to make one (big) exception: iClever BoostCare is a pair of headphones designed for a very specific and particularly demanding audience: children.

    Construction

Anyone with children knows that products designed for the age group ranging from 5 to 10-12 years must have very special characteristics that often go beyond listening quality, wireless and built-in voice commands, because here the needs are different.

The products for this type of target must first of all be robust and built to be, literally, mistreated: they must not break when falling, they must not be complex, they must adapt to different situations instantly and above all they must not have a battery, because the management of this would be a nightmare for parents.

This is why we liked iClever BoostCare even before trying it: if you are over 12 you probably don't care, but if you are younger (or more than thirty, so you are indirectly interested in it) the product shows all the features of which do you need.

Open the (very simple) cardboard box, you are faced with a product made entirely of plastic: the colored surface (distributed in pink, purple or light blue) is made of soft rubber and foldable in the upper part (where, however, there is a plastic skeleton rigid inside) where there are also two small ears that play down but intrigue the little ones.

The lower part is in rigid rubber but velvety to the touch, while the white part is in rigid plastic and works as an exoskeleton.

Finally, the bearings are quite soft and made of fixed and non-detachable parts (a fundamental characteristic for very small ones, even if they would still be large).

The headphones have no remote or control of any kind, it would have been mostly useless, and the size and opening of the bow are meant for a small head, making it tiny for an adult.

Finally, the cable is entirely made of colored rubber and connected to the left earphone: it must be said, however, that the shape and position of the connector favor an ambidextrous use of the headphones, whose only real rudder to understand the direction and the position of the ears.

    Quality

The quality test of this product focuses on reliability, which seemed good to us as our trusted reviewer, little Gianluca, used the headphones for a few days without hesitation: age does not make him a subject particularly attentive to things he uses and the headphones ended up under his ass on the sofa a couple of times, fell off the table and often ended up in the bag under other clothes and devices.

While not an extreme test, we can say that the daily age routine is correct and the headphones did a good job, surviving well. The cable was solid and the exoskeleton did not undergo any obvious signs.

The second quality test focuses on the audio response: the technical characteristics do not report the frequency response, but that the 30 mm drivers (over-the-ear for children up to 12 years) report a circuit that limits the volume to 85 dB , protecting the baby's ear from excessive noise.

The result, as far as the writer has been able to ascertain for a pair of headphones not suitable for an adult, speaks of a product more suitable for watching a film than a piece of music (even in our tests, the main device was an iPad with Plex and Netflix) or at the limit of some games.

The stereo Jack connector offers wide compatibility with many devices, and for those without it there are adapters to Lightning or USB-C, if not already included in the package (the new iPhone XS and iPhone XR, for example, do not have it. more).

    Conclusions

If you have a toddler who loves watching a movie on an iPad or Android tablet, or another toy that has an analog audio jack output, iClever BoostCare offers all the attention a parent expects.

While not offering the superior quality of a higher-end product, they do offer resistant materials, a pleasant look and an attractive cost for a product designed to survive the impact of a child.

Pro : • Sturdy material • Colorful look with decorations

Cons : • Only for children

    Price : 13.88 Euro
