If you have a USB-C device, then Anker A8370 is the adapter to always keep in your pocket. It is very small but thanks to the sturdy metal construction it is ideal for mobility. It does one thing but does it very well: enable the reading and writing of SD and microSD cards on smartphones, tablets and computers with USB-C.

How is Anker A8370 made
The first strong point, we said, is in the dimensions . Measuring 3.8 cm (4.5 cm if we also consider the USB-C plug) x 2.1 x 1 cm, it can practically be hidden in the fist of the hand.
The external shell is made in one piece in brushed aluminum 1 mm thick. It seems little but in reality it is enough to allow it to withstand any stress. We tried to squeeze it between the fingers near the openings and it is impossible to fold it with the sole force of the hands: perfect then to let it wander in a trouser pocket or better still in a backpack pocket.

The two SD and microSD ports are recessed in one long side of the adapter, while on the short sides we find the USB-C plug on one side, which unfortunately cannot be hidden inside the adapter (but doing so avoids moving parts that could reduce the life of the small device in the long run). The other side is simply closed by a plastic lid – too bad, if there had been a USB-A port it would have been the ultimate USB-C adapter. Let's try to look on the bright side: with an additional door it should have been even a few centimeters longer, to the detriment of its extreme pocketability.
How it works
SD and microSD cards slide into their respective ports. It is impossible to make a mistake given the different dimensions and also for the direction you do not escape: if you try to insert the cards upside down with respect to the correct direction they simply do not reach the end of the stroke (they enter a few millimeters and block).
To get the right orientation at first glance it is a matter of habit. Just remember that SD cards must have their contacts facing the bottom of the adapter (the one where the CE, FC codes and other device details are printed), while the microSD card must be inserted in the opposite direction, i.e. with the contacts facing towards the Anker logo.

The doors are built really well: the cards enter and lock at the end of their travel, to extract them you need to exert a little force and therefore there is no risk that they may slip away causing us to lose the connection (perhaps during a long data transfer). Furthermore, there are no spring systems for hooking-unhooking the cards, also here in favor of greater durability over time thanks to the elimination of moving parts.
How are you
We tested it with an Android smartphone, and the results were satisfactory. In cases like this we remind you that it may be necessary to activate the recognition of OTG devices if it is deactivated.
The reading of the cards is instantaneous and no software is required, as the default file manager is called into question of the system. If you don't even have one, we recommend Flashlight + Clock File Manager, it works great and is free.
In case of intensive use the adapter tends to heat up but the materials help in heat dissipation, and even under stress we did not notice any slowdown or operating problems.
Conclusions
Why buy Anker A8370? Because it is very small and therefore you can always have it in your pocket. There are no cables like in hubs, which could therefore break due to numerous bending. It can be useful if you need to quickly download SLR photographs (even on your smartphone, to retouch them on the fly and then share them on social networks), if you need to transfer files contained in SD and microSD cards between different devices avoiding Bluetooth and wireless connections (great for files large size) and can be convenient to watch maybe one or more movies on the tablet during a trip that you have previously loaded on a ticket just to avoid weighing down the memory of your device.
